In 2002, my sister Jacqui was diagnosed with breast cancer. We, as a family, immediately came to grips with the financial, physical, and emotional costs associated with treating this disease. Even with all my past fundraising efforts and education about cancer, nothing got me closer to it than when Jacqui was diagnosed.
As my sister, with the help of many, approached her first-year anniversary of surviving breast cancer, I wanted to give her something special. I wanted a symbol of Jacqui’s journey, her strengths and most of all, her heart. I began looking at everything with the infamous pink ribbon.
I finally zeroed in on jewelry. I wanted this gift to come from my heart to Jacqui’s. Although there was a wide selection of pink ribbon merchandise, nothing was of the quality I was seeking.
That’s where my dear friend, hockey dad, and co-founder of Wedding Day Diamonds came in. I shared my story, my desires, and my dreams with Dean and his brother Umit; like so many others, they couldn’t wait to help. After much discussion and thought, the world’s first fine jewelry collection—inspired by the infamous pink ribbon—was created to raise awareness of the cause and help fund breast cancer research. |
thinkpinkcollection.com™ has now evolved to carry multiple lines with different manufactures; however, all with the same focus in mind – finding a cure for breast cancer. Our goal is to raise $100,000,000 for breast cancer research with the American Cancer Society; and that’s only the beginning.
This effort couldn’t have been accomplished without the uncompromising love of my husband, Kurt, our son, Max, my family, my friends-Dean and Umit, and so many others. I am honored, privileged, and blessed to showcase the thinkPINKjewelry ™ collection.
